The Next Wave Film Centre is an Australian Film Festival educational initiative designed to connect those with a passion for Film, with the experts in the industry. 

The mentors, including Ben Ferris (Director Sydney Film School), Karel Segers (Founder of Australia’s top ranking web site on screenwriting www.thestorydepartment.com) and The Australian Writers Guild provide invaluable inside knowledge, tips and tricks in a supportive, small group environment.

The Art of One Shot Filming

Ben Ferris, Executive Director of the Sydney Film School and DOP James Barahanos will take you through the process and challenges of devising and shooting a one shot film around a pre-determined character scenario. Students will participate in the planning and filming of the one shot and discuss the effectiveness of the choices they have made.

Where scripts come to life!

The FutureFilm Scriptwriting Competition celebrates the future of Australian screenwriting, with a specific and unique focus on performance writing. Five talented, emerging writers will be selected to move up to 15 minutes of their writing on stage with actors in front of a live audience. The winner will recieve $1000 cash, a copy of the Final Draft, and inclusion in AWG's Pathways program.
